May Class Newsletter

Hi There Club 420 Fans!

Registration bonanza is in full swing for our summer events, and we're excited to see all the enthusiasm for our championships. While the class continues to grow and expand our national championship offerings, we understand that not every sailor is ready to hop into the deep end. For that reason, we encourage our newer sailors to find regional and local events to get some bigger fleet experience! Gulf Coast Champs (5/31-6/1) is in its second year at Lakewood YC in Seabrook, Texas. For our West Coast teams not travelling early in the summer, we've got California State Champs (6/28 - 6/29) in Long Beach, CA.

Canadian Nationals (7/19- 7/20) is worth a look as well! They hosted 75 boats last year, and we are expecting a similar if not larger enrollment. Port Credit Yacht Club will be hosting Open North Americans in 2026, so this might be a good chance to get some advance scouting of the venue and enjoy some beavertails and poutine!

Along the East Coast, we've got the Mid Atlantic Championship (6/24-6/25) happening at Seaside Park Yacht Club in NJ. Barnegat Bay in the summer gets some amazing sea breezes and flat water... should be a great reaching leg on those trapezoids!

We are always looking to partner with local events to help drive enrollment, so if you or your club hosts an event that you'd like on our calendar, please reach out to Alana, our Executive Director, to get it added. We are actively looking for hosts for Midwest Champs for 2026, and if you or your club would like to host, we'd like to work with you!

We're excited to see you on the water soon!

**SOUTH SHORE CHAMPS & OPEN NAs**

Prop guards are required for all coach boats at both South Shore Champs and Open North Americans. Please help us spread the word and make sure your coach is prepared.

Boats not adhering to the prop guard law will not be allowed to be near the race course and will not be issued a coach flag.

**UPDATES TO NORs**

We have updated our NORs to include the following language for registrations and waitlists. Please review so you are not caught off guard when our summer event registrations start opening..

Eligibility and Entry

To be fully registered, boats must have a skipper and crew listed, and forms signed. Boats that register without a skipper or crew, will be moved to the waitlist after 14 days. Boats will be taken off the waitlist in the order they registered as space allows.

Waitlist

After the maximum number of entries has been reached a waitlist will be formed. Teams on the waitlist will be notified, by the email listed in their registration, if a spot becomes available. Teams will have three(3) days to confirm their spot and pay the registration fee, if the team does not reply or pay the fee in the allotted time the spot will go to the next team on the waitlist. Please make sure the email addresses listed and phone numbers are up to date so you can be contacted.
