Here is some important information to have when traveling to Canada this summer for the North American Championship or Canadian Nationals. If you are coming to the regatta from outside Canada, including the US, there are a number of things that you need to know and do.
People and Boats
You will need travel documents – typically a passport – to cross the border into Canada and to return to your country of residence. Citizens of some countries (not Canada or the US) may need a visa (see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp for a list of which nationalities do, or do not require visas, and how to apply). If you do require a visa, enter the regatta on-line, and after you complete your entry we will be pleased to provide a letter of invitation, should it be required for your visa application.
If anyone in your party is under the age of 18 they should have valid travel documents, and if your party is traveling in multiple vehicles, children under the age of 18 should travel with their parents or guardians at the border. If you are traveling with someone under the age of 18 and you are not the child’s parent or guardian, you should have a signed letter from the child’s parent or guardian authorizing their entry into Canada under your care. The letter should include contact information of the parent, as well as a photocopy of the parents’ passport. More information about minors traveling across the border can be found here: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/td-dv-eng.html#s2
If you are arriving by car from the US with a boats or boats, you should have registration documents for your tow vehicle and trailer, as well as registration documents or bills of sale for any boats that you are bringing across the border. If you do not own the vehicles or boats you will need letters from their owners permitting you to bring them into Canada for the regatta. You will need the same information when returning to the US. Boats may be brought into Canada free of duties and taxes but must be taken out of Canada at completion of your visit.
More details of these requirements can be found on official websites – we recommend that you consult official sources. For travel documents and visas (visas are not required by US citizens who are tourists) see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/tourist.asp and for crossing the border see http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/ivc-rnc-eng.html.
COVID Requirements
AS OF JUNE 14 2022
Please be aware that border crossing requirements regarding Covid-19 are subject to change. This information has been pulled from official websites from the Government of Canada and compiled for your convenience. For any questions about border crossing, please consult official sources and be sure to re-check Covid Requirements before attempting to cross.
In order to cross over the border into Canada, whether by air or land, all travelers MUST be fully vaccinated. Additionally, all travelers MUST download the ArriveCan app to their smartphone ahead of time (Apple AppStore or Google Play). Here you will upload travel documents and vaccination records. Individuals can add registrants or family members to their account once created.

Covid Testing at the borders
Canadian Border Agents may randomly select fully vaccinated travelers to take a Covid test. If travelers receive one of these tests they can decline and return to the US or proceed to Canada and follow the testing procedures. The BCC has space set up in the Clubhouse to have the required video call and can then also provide follow-up support for test collection. More information can be found here:
